Summary from Goodreads:
Galen is the prince of the Syrena, sent to land to find a girl he's heard can communicate with fish. Emma is on vacation at the beach. When she runs into Galen — literally, ouch! — both teens sense a connection. But it will take several encounters, including a deadly one with a shark, for Galen to be convinced of Emma's gifts. Now, if he can only convince Emma that she holds the key to his kingdom . . .

Thoughts:
I was definitely not expecting to love this book because Galen seemed like a jerk when people described him to me and I heard arranged marriage and immediately shook my head at that. No, no. Not a book for me.. or so I thought. Fortunately for me, I thought it over and decided to give this a chance and I am ever glad I did! This novel was humorous, perfectly paced, and just plain unique. The cover is absolutely gorgeous and eye catching as well which is a bonus and the font used for the title goes perfectly along with the design.
Characters:
I really enjoyed the fact that Of Poseidon was told from two the prospective of two characters. Emma was such a realistic main character and I adored her sense of humor. Galen was an interesting character to read from as well. In fact, I loved his lack of knowledge of the human world and what some items were or certain words because it was hilarious reading about his experiences finding about each of them. One character I wish I'd gotten to see and know more of is Galen's brother, Grom. Hopefully he shows up more in the sequel to Of Poseidon.
Romance:
I was really intrigued by how the romance developed over time. Even though both characters felt an instant connection, the author wrote it to where they slowly got to know each other and didn't use the insta-love card. I also enjoyed the romance with the side characters and how Emma helped out Toraf and Rayna.
Ending:
The ending was a tad confusing to me but once I understood it, I was shocked and now I just can't wait to get my hands on the sequel.
Recommendation:
I recommend this to anyone looking for a good mermaid book or romance book, in general that has tons of humorous moments.
First Sentence:
"I smack into him as if shoved from behind."
Quotes:
"...you will also notice that I don't have a big fin swallowing my butt either." -Page 113
"Maybe you can talk to donkeys too," Dr. Milligan smiles.
Emma nods," I can. Sometimes Galen can be a jackass." -Page 201
"He grins. She's been getting more comfortable with her Gift. Yesterday, she sent some dolphins chasing him." -Page 255
