Thoughts:
Scary School was such a treat for me to read! I needed something easy to read and enjoy and perhaps a laugh and this was the perfect book. I finished it in a sitting and I now can't wait for the second book! This novel is written in a way that reminded me of Series of Unfortunate Events and I found myself breezing through the book while enjoying myself and having a laugh. I can honestly say that I can't recall how many times I read passages I laughed in and just plain enjoyed reading to my mom, considering she was the closest person at the moment.. I can tell anyone who's looking for a laugh would enjoy this because even my mom laughed! You can't get much better than that (; No, but seriously, this is a fun and hilarious read if that's what you need.
Characters:
Scary School is told from the perspective of a ghost. Yes, you did just read that correctly; a ghost. Derek is now a ghost because of an unfortunate little mishap that happened in science class. But enough of that, you can learn more about that in the book. Derek's voice in the novel was present most times in the book and I really enjoyed the little extra comments he would make as he recalled and told an event. The characters vary from what and whom Derek is talking about at a certain part of the book. I really enjoyed how each character had their own little part in the book dedicated to them. ^-^
Romance:
I can't really say Scary School has much, if any, romance within its pages really. It's more of a quick, fun read that doesn't dwell in the romance aspect of most novels.
Ending:
The ending is another thing I can compare to Snicket's works. Derek and Snicket both have a way of writing  endings that makes you want to continue the rest of the series. It's pure brilliance that makes you feel as though you need to read the series because of the way it ends.
First Sentence:

"I suppose the proper way to start an introduction is with an introduction, so... Hello!"
Quotes:

"Ms. Fang is the nicest, sweetest teacher at scary school. She only ate twelve kids last year." -Page 13
Trailer:
I love this trailer! The way it's narrated, perfect! (x
